Fall Festival

We went to the Fall Festival yesterday. The kids had fun. They sure loved their balloon animals. Parker got a sword and Addison got the cutest little pink dog. And they also liked dressing up. Addison was so cute in her costume. She loved to walk around the library in it. Parker wanted to be the same thing he was last year. There was lots for them to do. There was face painting, popcorn, trick or treating, festival type games, and a craft. It was fun to get out of the house and do something fun!!

"Mom, are you sure I am going to be alright??"

Yes that is Parker in the baby swing. He LOVES to swing but has not learned how to use a big boy swing. I have been trying since we moved to Texas (that is over 2 years) and he just does not seem interested. Yesterday we went to the park with our friends the Nelsons and all the kids wanted to swing. (She has three little boys) So we put the babies in a baby swing one of her other boys in the other baby swing (we made Parker get out) Then we finally convinced Parker to try the big boy swing. His best friend (according to Parker) was in one and so it took a bunch of convincing but we finally convinced him to try it out and he wouldn't have to pump his legs I would just do underdogs. He said he would and things were going great. But then I am not sure what happened. I didn't do anything different than the time before, but I did the underdog and looked back and there was Parker in mid air falling on the cement (it just happened that the cement was a wall around the swings) and he scraped his legs along that and then his belly fell on the step. I couldn't do anything to stop it. It was like slow motion. This cut our time at the park short and we had to go home. Parker told me that he was afraid of falling off the swing and that is why he had never wanted to go on the big swing before. I felt bad for the kid. His scrapes are pretty bad. He might be scarred for life and may not ever get back into a big swing. His only question is "Mom, are you sure I am going to be alright??" He is very concerned about it and won't wear pants. We just hope he will get back on a swing someday!!

Our Model Knight

Parker was picked by his teacher and the librarian as their classes "Model Knight." They are the outstanding student and only a few get picked a year. He was very excited. That meant that he got to eat lunch in the library and I was able to come and eat with him. I brought one of his favorites...SUBWAY!! He was excited. We are happy that he is such a good student and is loving school!! Congratulations Parker!!

Proud Owner

We have always had a hard getting Parker to keep his room clean. He loved to stuff everything under his bed, on his couch and in his closet. (I am sure like any other kid does) He would come and tell us his room was clean. I asked if there was anything on the floor and he would always say no. He forgot to mention that he put it all in his closet and under his bed. He has been asked for this double lightsaber that he saw on television (gotta love all those darn commercials). I made a deal with him and said that if he keeps his room clean for 2 week he could have that lightsaber. He said okay I can do that. Surprisingly enough he did keep it clean and has continued to keep it clean and he is a very proud owner of that lightsaber. Now he keeps telling that he would like this and that and every other toy on the planet and all he has to do is keep his room clean. I just laughed at him, I don't think he understood why.

SOLD!!

I am so excited that we finally sold our old car. It is about time. We finally only have one car. (Jeff's truck is not his, it is a work vehicle but he can use it for personal reasons.) I felt like the other ones were going to waste. It is weird though, I feel like a piece of me is gone. That was our first car we ever purchased and it holds a place in my heart. Parker loved that car and was not happy to see it go. We had lots of good times in that car and we are happy that someone can use it!!

Like when I was a kid

My dad has always had a really good garden. He has 5 gallon buckets of tomatoes and his squash are huge. When I was younger my dad would buy a bushel of corn and we would steam that and then get some fresh garden tomatoes and cut those up and then sprinkle them with salt. And that was dinner. YUMMY!!!! I feel like it was yesterday. Now that I am grown I have tried the garden thing and we have quite the tomatoes. We are always eating cherry ones. Well at least me and Parker are, Jeff hates them. But we also have quite the plant with large tomatoes. For lunch today I had some (of course they were sprinkled with salt, just like when I was a kid) and they were yummy. It took be back a few years. Then I was quickly brought back to reality when Addison threw her juice at me. But it was a nice moment and brought back lots of memories. I sure do miss the good old days!!
