Back to School

We survived our first week of school and we LOVE it. Parker has the best teachers and we feel very blessed to have him going to such a great school. He was so excited to go to school the first day and was not going to pose for me for a photo. So this is what you get. I think it is funny.

He walked right into class and got all his supplies and was ready for the day. I had Addison with me and she did not like the idea of leaving her brother there at the school. She cried and kicked and screamed and wanted to stay with him. I am not sure if she thought she was missing out on all the fun or if she was going to miss him. It was adorable though. On Friday when we took him she was so excited to see the school and could not stop saying school and backpack and then when we dropped him off in his class she wanted to give him a big hug and did so much better. It was funny!! Parker is enjoying his classes and loves the extra time he has at home.

Meet the Teacher

We are so excited for Parker to be going to a new school this year. Jeff and I went the other night (without kiddos, been way to long since we have done that) and went to a parent orientation and met Parker's teacher and learned lots about the school and we also picked up his books. It was nice to not have the kids with us. His teacher was very nice and the most bizarre but comfortable thing that happened the whole night was that they said an opening and closing prayer. I don't know why it caught me off guard....I guess maybe because public school is not that way. I should get used to it though he is going to a Christian School. We had a great time and even went out with some friends after. Their little boy is going to school there as well. Parker is excited that his best little buddy is going to be at his same school. He was kind of nervous about not knowing anyone.

The very next day I was able to take Parker back to Meet the Teacher. (We almost didn't make it though, I stopped by Staples to get some last minute supplies and I locked my keys in my car. Thankfully Jeff was close by and could rescue us) Parker was so cute and I could tell that he is getting so excited to be going to his new school. And come to find out there are two kids from his class last year that are in his class. I thought that was kind of funny. He was so excited to see boys he knew. His class has 9 kids in it and I just love the sound of that. Last year there were over 20 and so to have a small class is music to my ears. We cannot wait for school to start tomorrow. He has already done his first round of homework and survived. (well we both did) While we were there Parker and Addison just loved this huge teddy bear, especially Addison. She would walk up to it and hug it....so cute!!!

finally, our one "vacation" for the summer

With the restrictions that Jeff has had with his back it made it hard to do much of anything this summer. It has been kind of annoying. There have been quite a few things we have wanted to do but couldn't because Jeff couldn't sit for very long before his legs and arms start to fall asleep. But the doctor finally took off most restrictions and he is able to drive (well for longer than two hours, that is) So our one "vacation" ,if you can call it that, for was going to Balmorhea....we just love going there. The only problem is that everyone in West TX thought it was a good time to go and it was as crowded as can be. But who doesn't love to swim with the fishies?? Right??

The only "family" photo that we got....Parker was not very cooperative.

Here is another one of Parker.....he was so excited to be getting his photo taken.

We had a great time. I am glad that we finally got out of Midland. It has been a really long summer and day of fun was just what the doctor ordered.

Snack

I written before about what a crazy sleeper Addison is and so more than 3 days a week she is up with Jeff and I and so we have to have another round of snack. She usually is up until 10 pm. So the other night we are lying in our bed, ready to go to bed and Addison decided that it was time for snack. She runs into the kitchen and this is what she came back with.

It was so funny and she insisted on sitting on my floor and eating it. This is her favorite thing to eat in the entire world. She is so funny!!

P's Ladder

Parker loves to climb trees and he has not been able to master our biggest tree in the backyard because the branches are too high up for him to get to. He gets close and then gives up. He came up with the idea to build a ladder. They drew up plans and then Jeff made Parker measure where the screws would go and then all that Jeff did was screw in the screws. It was funny to watch. The ladder is much bigger than Parker and he can barely move it around the yard, but now I have one happy kid and he spends so much time in the tree.

I am proud of Parker for sticking through the whole project!! It was a big project and he did great!!! Now he has other things in mind.
Addison also thinks it is fun to climb the ladder, that is until she wants off....she has not figured out how to get down yet. So Parker can only get it out when she is not out there.
