Our Big 2nd Grader

I cannot believe that Parker is in 2nd grade now. He is learning so much. I swear just yesterday he was starting preschool. Boy how time flies. He was kind of torn to go back to school. He was WAAAYYYY excited to see his friends. He has most of the same kids in his class, but on the other hand he was not looking forward to all the school work. What is funny is that he does not sleep in, EVER. And the first day of school is the only day all summer that he slept in. What a funny kid. I asked him about it and he, "because I can"

We went and dropped off Parker at school and Addison was so excited to go inside. Then she got mad when we didn't stay. Then we got to the car and she cried. She kept telling me she was sad, her best friend was leaving her. She did get better throughout the day, but mostly she was sad. When the time came to go and get him she was grinning from ear to ear.

We survived our first home day. Trying to get back on schedule is always a struggle. We did get it all done, but it took us until 4:30pm. He has history this year and is really struggling with it. His first test is tomorrow and he is really nervous about it. I am sure it is just going to take some getting used to. Addison just loved school today. I bought her a workbook to work on while Parker is doing work. She did great and it kept her busy and out of trouble. We may need more than one. She did not want to stop. She was a bit of a distraction today though. Parker was trying to spread his knowledge on everything he knew about what she was learning.

Here's to another successful year!!!!

Southern Utah and a baby blessing

After our visit to Bear Lake our next and last stop was St. George. Jeff has lots of family there and we were excited to see everyone. All of Jeff's siblings were there and we had a reunion there as well. We got there on a Saturday night. The very next day we blessed Kate. What a special day for her!! It was so nice to have everyone there. It was just us, we were able to do it at his parents house. Here are some photos of the event. Sorry these are so late mom, life has gotten in the way. And thanks for the gorgeous dress!!! It fit perfectly!!!

Bear Lake

We headed the Bear Lake a few days later. The kids were so anxious to get there. Well what can I say, so was I. I always enjoy seeing my dads side of the family. We always have such a good time. And I had not seen them for almost 2 years, it was way overdue!!! My parents were in charge this year and so I have been hearing about this thing forever. I was happy to finally see it all come together. There was a Hawaiian Theme and it was fun to see that. There were over 50 of us and so my mom rented these awesome cabins. There were 3 total. One that housed almost 50, one that housed 20 or so and then under 10. Me and my sister and our families stayed in the middle sized one. It was so fun!!! The kids especially loved the big bunk beds. Plus there was 2 very large playlands right out front. My favorite thing was just hanging out and catching up with the family. Oh and my dads cooking lesson....if you were there you know what I am talking about. So funny, and we got it all on video.

I really don't want to bore you with all the photos....altogether from everyone there were over 10GB of photos. And yep I have a copy of them all. Here are some family photos we had done while we were there. And I already scrapped them.

Pocatello ID

The very next day we traveled to Pocatello Idaho.....I know, the MOST exciting place ever. But my sis lives there and so we had a great reason to go there. My kids were excited to see their cousins again. They had so much fun playing with them. Their favorite thing was their swingset and sand box. We have got to get one of those. Parker would wake up, eat breakfast and would be out there until lunch. And when we couldn't find him we just had to check the backyard. We took the kids to the park, (hadn't done that in a while, gotta love 100+ degree weather), mini golfing, went to the movie. Addison's first time and she did awesome. We saw Despicable Me...my kiddos fav!! We also had a bbq, some yummy food and of course great company. Me and my sis realized that after our time was done there that we only got a few pics of the kids. Here are the kids at the Lowe's Project. My kids loved this!!!

Thanks Tiff for a fun time!! Addison wants to visit your house everyday and when I talk to you on the phone she is certain it is always you, no matter who it is, and wants to talk. Looking forward to our next visit!!!

Aquarium

If my kiddos go see Grandma, they always ask to go to the Aquarium. It also doesn't help that you have to go by it in order to get to her house. So they see it and ask about it until we take them. Thanks mom for the fun afternoon, the kids loved it!!

I have to tell you a funny story about these pennies. They had a great time doing it and Parker wants to do it more often. So we got one for each of the kids and thought it would be fun to collect them when we find them. They each wanted to hold on to them and so we told Addison to put it in her pocket. And she did. Then we went into the gift shop area and they each got a little something. As we were walking out the door she said she couldn't find her penny. So we went back in and searched for it hoping we would find it on the ground. And we came upon one of those charity funnel things where you put the coin in the top and then it goes round and round and then goes into the bottom. She said she had put it in there. She was so sad that I could not get it out. I guess she wanted to donate it to Save the Whales or something?? It was so cute and sad at the same time.

Hogle Zoo

There are just not enough hours in the day. I am busy from sun up to sun down and still don't get it all done. So this blog has been neglected. But I must move on. The day after July 4th we went to the Zoo. If I could do it all over again I would not plan to go to the zoo the day after a late night of fireworks. We met my family up there at 9 am....waaaay too early for a late night. But we did it and had a great time. We don't have a zoo and so this was so fun. This was Addison's first visit to a zoo and she LOVED it. It was hot though and so there was a part of me was glad we went early in the morning. All of my nieces and nephews were there and so it was a ton of fun.
