Medevil Festival

Parker's school has been learning about the Medevil Times at school. We have read books, and made crafts and as a family we got to make a castle. We could use anything we wanted and Parker chose sugar cubes. It took forever. And I don't have a picture...silly me. We took it to school and I forgot my camera. It was fun seeing everyones and what they all created. Our favorite was the one made out of candy and rice crispy treats. Why didn't we think of that?? Later in the week everyone came dressed up from someone from that time period. And they had a Feast. It was fun to see what everyone came dressed up as. Parker wanted to do knight. They had a great feast. At first they introduced the kitchen staff (us the parents)and told them that they had to follow our kitchen rules. Then we told them that the castle is going through rough times and all we had for them was a vegetable stew and bread. We didn't even have silverware for them. We had to sell all the good stuff for what we had. You should have seen the looks on the kids faces. It was so funny!! Some of them were so worried and then others said sweet and ate their food. About 5 minutes later they were told that we were able to trade some other things from the castle and get them some corn on the cob. Cheers were heard throughout the castle. Parker was happy about that. Then five minutes later they were told that we stole some chickens from the neighboring castle and we had some chicken legs for them. It was so funny to see the kids reactions to what they got to eat. And how they brought it out was genius!! Parker later told me that he was so worried. He would only eat the bread and was worried that he was going to be hungry. Here are some photos from the feast.

Parker learned alot and I am so glad we were to able to learn right along with him. It is fun!

She's almost there...

So our little Kate is almost walking, it kills me. She now will walk a few steps here and there. She is getting so big!! She also decided that it was time to get some teeth, and not just one, she now has three. She got them all in the last week or so. We love her so much! She is a HAPPY baby and LOVES her daddy. She is not 10 months old...wow that is crazy!!

The reading nazi

So I guess I am some kind of Nazi when it comes to reading, check out Parker's reading log.  I just found it the other day and had to chuckle. Apparently all he is allowed to do is read. Really he just wants to do the best so he can get the prizes. And those really large numbers are in minutes.

I want to cut mommy!

I knew it would happen eventually but I was hoping it wouldn't happen at all. I was combing her hair this morning and noticed her hair was shorter on one side. To be honest the first thing that came to my mind was it broke off because it kind of looks like it with the way she cut it. But then I thought, wait, she's three she does not have breakage. Then I asked that question no parent wants to ask....did you cut your hair?  She just looked at me and said yes. Like it was no big deal. She then showed me where she put the hair, like she was hiding it or something. It could be worse. The cut is not that bad. It just kills me that she did it because we have talked about it over and over about not doing it. Oh well! Now our scissors are under lock and key.
