He's a big kid now....

Parker has finally learned how to ride his bike with out training wheels. What is funny is that he had a bike with training wheels and out grew it. We then got him another bike and it did not have training wheels and he tried to ride it and just couldn't get the hang of it. We had planned on getting training wheels for him when it started warming up.

He was over at his friends house and said that he could ride his friends bike (his friends bike does not have training wheels) and I was shocked and didn't believe it. We walked home and got his bike and he rode off on it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. So he is getting big. I cannot stop him. Now if we could only get him to stop riding it. That is what he does everyday after school.I have a hard time getting him to come home for dinner. He LOVES his bike.

Oh and he just learned how to tie his shoe we well. He won't even wear his shoes that have velcro. We had an eventful Spring Break and he decided to grow up, where has time gone??

Who needs to color eggs when there are stickers!!

We did the traditional coloring of eggs. Parker had fun coloring them (as he always does) but I think that he was more excited about the stickers that came with our pack. He couldn't wait for them to dry before he put them on. And then he didn't understand why they weren't sticking. Addison also got in on the stickers. She loves to put them on her face. It was fun to watch her try and put them on the eggs. Maybe next time I will just get stickers and they can put them all over plastic eggs, then we don't have to deal with the dye.

My garden

A few weeks ago I planted these seeds in little cups and now we are getting ready to move them...oh I cannot wait!! I am really going to try to have a great garden this year. We will have to see, I have not been that great in the past. This year we are trying peas, zuchinni, summer squash, sweet potatoes, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, cilantro and parsley. (I also have tried some flowers from seed, we will see how that goes.) Some of them are already in the ground and going strong. The others will be moved out this week. How exciting!!!

A good laugh

To end Spring Break last week we went to the last home game of the Odessa Jackalopes. (thanks Kyle for the tickets, we had a blast). We LOVE hockey!!! We really enjoy watching it. Between one of the periods they had some little guys come out and play. They were so cute. One of them couldn't have been older than 4 and he was out on the ice just doing circles. One would fall and then the next would fall over the top of them...this may sound bad, but it was funny to watch them. While we were sitting there watching them Parker decided that he wanted to play hockey. Not sure how that is going to be. We are going to take him ice skating first and see how he does on skates. He may just say that it is too hard. But with a little practice he will probably do great. I can just see it now though, I am sure that there will be plenty of giggles at the games and practices. I know that the crowd the other night sure got a good laugh.

This little guy was so funny. The game was going on at the other end of the ice and he was just standing there ready for the puck....oh just thinking about watching them just makes me laugh!!

Finally

I think that Spring has finally arrived!! Check out the blossoms on my tree from my backyard.....I love spring!! We have also begun the dreaded yard work. I hate it and Jeff loves it. Well I have a love hate relationship with it. I love how it looks after it is done but I hate doing it. It is just such hard work. And good old mother nature comes along and ruins it half the time. Especially here in windy west Texas.

What kid wouldn't love this???

As part of Spring Break we went to Lubbock for the day while we were there we went to Krispy Kreme....yum!!! I have always wanted Parker to see the donuts made and last time we went they weren't making any more that day. I was bummed. We had to wait a while but we finally got to see them made this day....yay!!! The kids were fascinated by it!! We had a great time. We went with the Nelsons and the Pitchers. (Thanks Stephanie for coming over from Amarillo). We all had a great time and were definitely on a sugar high when we left. Thank goodness the kids were stuck in car seats for two hours after. It's also a good thing that Krispy Kreme is all the way in Lubbock!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

A leprechaun came to visit again. Didn't do as much damage this year. Parker would not drink our green milk from last year. What a weirdo!! This year Lenny the Leprechuan only turned some of our sugar green and left treats in the freezer. Now Parker is convinced that the whole tub of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is all his. We had a fun day!! Spent some time outside at the park and it is Parker's Spring Break and so we had all day to play!!! I wanted to try and make something green for dinner but on the off chance that Parker won't eat it, I may have to wait and do it another year. Hope the luck of the Irish has come your way!!!

It's Official

We have been waiting what feels like forever (really it has only been 2 months) but we found out last week that Parker got into the school we wanted him to get into. We are so excited. He is now a MCA Knight. He is very excited. When Jeff and I talked about schooling for Parker (before he even started Kindergarten) we had a HUGE debate about home school and public school. He was home schooled and for him it was a no brainer. Well I went to public school and I really wanted him to have the social aspect of public school. Now that he has gone to public school there is so much more politics that we don't want to have to deal with and don't want him to be exposed to. So this school is the best of both worlds. He gets to go to school 2 1/2 days a week and then is home schooled the other two....yeah!! On Fridays he only goes 3 hours. One hour of Spanish, one of Science, and one of Music. We could also choose Art if we would like. We LOVE this school. Their curriculum is amazing!!! One thing that I felt he was missing out on while in school was the chance to be a kid. He was in school from sun up to sun down (it felt like) and he would tell me that he didn't have time to play. Plus I get to have more of a hand in his education. We are so excited and we cannot wait. Plus his best little friend is going to be going there as well. YAY!!! Parker is very excited, but a little confused. After I told him he wanted to know if we were going there that day. He is not quite getting it. The fall will not come soon enough.

ZZZZZ.....

So I took my friend Laura's advice and let Parker have school breakfast today. For the record I let him have school lunch today as well. And I did enjoy my 20 minutes more of sleep...why try to be an overachiever??? Maybe in my next life?? (on a side not, Jeff wasn't here to enjoy my nice breakfast and so I didn't want to try, LOL)

Overacheiver

I am not a morning person at all. Not sure I ever will be. I have been trying the last week to make a hot breakfast for Parker. I have done waffles, pancakes, german pancakes, and the list goes on. Jeff and Addison are loving it. This is a conversation we had about it this morning.

P: Mom, when can I choose my breakfast?
Me: what do you mean?
P: Well I want to have Captain Crunch!!
Me: You mean you don't like the nice breakfast I have been making you?
P: I just want Captain Crunch mom.

Inside I am kind of upset, why have I been killing myself to get up and make him breakfast when a bowl of cereal is all he wants? To top it off he tells me on the way to school today that the school makes better breakfast than me and that he wants to have breakfast at school. I guess I had better stop being an overachiever and let the kid have cereal or even better let him have breakfast at school. Kids are funny!!!

A single mom......sometimes

Jeff has been really busy recently and it makes me feel like a single mom sometimes. You ask what he has been doing?? He has been reffing boys high school basketball and now that basketball is over he started umping girls fast pitch softball. I really love that he is doing something he loves doing. (he did this in high school and really enjoyed it) The other day we went out and watched him ump. It was actually Parker's idea and he was so excited. We got there and he sat and watched for about 5 minutes and then asks how long we have to stay. It was so funny!! I think he was expecting more excitement. We didn't stay long but now I think that Parker understands what his daddy is busy doing. It bothers me in some areas that he is busy all the time but I know he is doing something he likes doing and who can complain about the extra money?? I am not sure what I would do if he asked me to stop scrapping, so I just sit back and watch him be happy.
