Goal Accomplished!!!
I set out to run a 10K last spring and started training and yesterday I did it. It went really well. I have always enjoyed running and started doing it again after I had Addison. I am no good at it and I am not a sprinter but slow and steady finishes the race. I am just glad it is over and I may do another one in November. The first two miles is always the hardest and so once I got past the 2 mile mark I was fine. I did get a little concerned towards the end though. I was running probably a quarter of a mile behind a group of people the whole time and at the end of the race you turn a few corners and then the finish line is right there. At one point I didn't see anyone and thought that maybe I had gone the wrong way, but once I turned that last corner all my worries were gone and the finish line was in site. I felt really good after I ran and feel great to have accomplished my goal. (sorry the pics are so bad, they were taken with Jeff's cell phone.)

TGIF
(Her favorite place to be. In Parker's bedroom in his tent)
1. One week ago was having another sleepless child, that meant for a long day (gotta love teething and earaches).
2. I wanted to be a nurse when I was young.
3. Mama told me dinner's done, and left frozen meat on the counter, we all just tease her and laugh about it now.
4. Just you and me.
5. Take your time growing up.
6. Days of no sleep will pass!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to my hubby home(first night this week), tomorrow my plans include running a 10k and Sunday, I want to digital scrapbook!

Labor Day Fun!!!
I know this is way late, but this is kind of like my journal and so I wanted to write about it. Jeff had Labor Day off and we had talked about going to Balmorhea State Park. (it is less than 2 hours away) We never made it out there during the summer and so we thought it would be the perfect day. Until the day came and we noticed that is was overcast. We were nervous about going, but went anyway. If anything we had a nice drive and got to see the "mountains." Or what West Texans call mountains. For those of you who don't know what Balmorhea is let me explain, It's main attraction is a large spring that is home to fish and turtles. (the sign said there were turtles. but we didn't see any.) It is 25 feet deep and is 72-76 degrees all year long. They also have camping available. It is kind of weird to swim with the fish and there is no just hanging out in the water with it being so deep, but it is a lot of fun. Parker had asked if we could go a dozen or so times during the summer and we told him we had a surprise and didn't tell him where we were going. He was stoked when he figured it out. He was funny to watch, he kept trying to catch the fish. He said he wanted to grill them and eat them. He saw some kids feeding them and so next time he has a game plan, he is going to bring food and a fishing pole. With it being overcast I was nervous about Addison in the water, but she loved it!! It did start to warm up later in the day and we had a great time. Next year we want to go back in July when it is warmer. I was just glad that we had a great time, it warmed up and we found the shallow part. It is only 3 feet deep and so Parker was able to play around with out having to swim the whole time. We can't wait to go back next year.

The Mean Mom
I hate to complain but sometimes I feel like I am just that..."The Mean Mom." Ever since Parker has started school I have felt this way. I swear that kid waits to get home to start the complaining, whining, and disobeying. I feel like all I ever do is either yell at him about something, nag on him or send him to his bedroom for disobeying. I forgot to mention that he is mean to his sister, and then she screams. And it is that kind of scream that just hurts your ears. It's painful!! Does anyone know what I am talking about? I don't think that I am alone?? I want to blame it on the fact that he wakes up at 6 am (sometimes earlier) to get ready for school. He says that he does not want to be late for school. And his getting ready for school consists of whining about needing help getting dressed and sometimes going outside to play. Parker has always needed his sleep and you would think that when he needs it the most he would sleep in. When he sleeps in until 6:30 in the morning is much more bearable. I keep telling myself that the newness of school has not worn off yet and this will stop, but when 6 pm rolls around and it is arsenic hour and I am ready to go hide in my closet because I would rather listen to them bang on the door, somethings got to give!! I feel like this person has come and taken me over and I miss being nice and sweet to Parker...I want this "Mean Mom" to go away. Any ideas.....is it just me?? Am I doing something wrong??
Laura-I hope it was okay that I linked to your page? You describe it the best!!

Thanks Grandma
We now have two (and we LOVE IT!!!) My mom sent Addison her own Sockers. Now we have a Mr. and Mrs. Sockers. For those of you who don't know who this is...he is a stuffed dog that is Parker's. He got this from my mom for his last birthday. He named him Sockers. Addison would always steel Parker's and this would cause all kinds problems. So for the sanity of me and Jeff I am glad that my mom sent one to Addison. She LOVES it and takes him everywhere. Who knew that a one year old could be so attached to a stuffed dog?? (I am just glad that she sent one because we were at a point that we were going to order one for her, you can't get them here in Midland.)
Thanks for the cute clothes for the kids....they are so adorable!!

Now he is a master chef!!
We love Visitors!!!
We don't live close to family and so we felt very lucky to have visitors this last week. My Grandparents came into town and spent some time with us.
Parker found a new lego buddy. He had my Grandpa build a huge house with most of his legos. He loved it!!! Every time he came over Parker would always ask him to help build the house. Parker sure had fun!! (not sure about my Grandpa??)
Jeff and I got to go to Lubbock with them and go to the temple. For those of you who don't know it is 2 hours away and we had a great visit there and had a great time at the temple. This was the first time I had been back since I had Addison. Gotta love it when your nursing, you have a sidekick for a very long time. Then on the way back we scored a huge juicy watermelon for $2. It was yummy!!!
We wished they could have stayed longer but we sure did enjoy having them visit. Thanks for visiting, I know the kids loved it and Jeff and I sure had a great time.

Addison turns one
So a year has come and gone and it has been a pleasure to have her around. There is only a few things that I wish I could stop with kids and that is that they stop growing up so fast. I look her now and I don't see my baby anymore, I am starting to see a toddler. What happened to my baby?? We had lots of fun for her birthday. I made her a little piggy cake (kind of appropriate because she gets a whole cake to herself). She was so cute with it. (Parker just liked the little piglets, the cupcakes). She wanted a spoon and then was not sure about the frosting in her fingers. She really didn't eat that much and was not as dirty as I thought she was going to be and didn't get much on the floor. (yeah!!!) She LOVED the balloons. Her and Parker had a great time playing with them. At first she was a little nervous, but then joined in on the fun. She also LOVED the gifts we got for her. She got a little bike to scoot around on and also some books. Each book she pulled out of the bag she sat down and read it, it was cute. She LOVES books!!! The little bike took a her a moment to figure out, but once she figured out that she could push it around she got so excited. She did get a little confused and likes to sit on it backwards. It was a fun little party!!

Memories
I remember when I was a kid and we would travel to Arizona and my grandma would make these cookies. I could never get the recipe out of her. They were always known as her famous "Cowboy Cookies." Well I finally got the recipe and had a great time making them with my kids. They were so excited for them to come out of the oven, they both stood there and had a good time. I couldn't help but snap this picture. They were a big hit and brought back a lot of memories!! I am just glad that now I can pass the recipe on to my kids and make memories with them!!

We should be worried!!!!
Jeff has informed me about some very disturbing info and I thought that I would share this info with those that read our blog. Obama will be doing a national address directly to students in public school on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. You can read more about it on the Fox News website here. You can also read more about it here. I am only writing this so that you can be aware. I don't know how you feel about what the president is trying to accomplish with his "change" of our country. Please go and read the articles and be aware of what is happening with your children. Michelle Malkin says it best "…parents have every right to worry about their children being used as Political Guinea Pigs for Change."
